About the Book:

Michael Lewis is numbers guys. He’s famous for digging into stats & finances and writing books about those things in a way that regular people not only can understand, but even like. His book about the housing crisis was turned into popular movie called “The Big Short” but he’s probably most famous (at least in our world) for “Moneyball.”

Like Moneyball, “Coach” revolves around the world of baseball. But as the subtitle gives away, the book is about way more than baseball.

“Coach” is short. I’d call it more of an essay than a book. I read it in 1 sitting.

Here’s the even shorter version.

Michael Lewis and other alumni of Isidore Newman School are excited to honor their high school baseball coach by naming the gym after him. He had a profound impact on the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of students.

Meanwhile, at the exact same moment, the current parents of the baseball team are attempting to have the same coach fired.

How can both of those things be happening simultaneously?

This book is about culture. It’s about parenting. It’s about what’s important in the long run vs the short term.

Nothing I read shocked me. I’ve seen similar stories with my own eyes.

I’d encourage you to read it.
