Thanks for coming!

Over the course of this week you’ll be seeing more emails delivering the content for the Recruiting Mini Course. If you aren’t on the email list but would like to be, go here.

Recruiting Mini Course Free PDF’s…

Each day as the Mini Course is delivered, I’ll update this page with the content from that day. Stay tuned.

***This Recruiting Mini Course was planned well in advance of the current state of health. The skills I teach are always important. But considering the uncertain situation we’re facing, the ability to effectively communicate becomes a super power! And video becomes a even more important! I hope this crud that’s floating around does not impact anyone in our baseball community beyond some missed games & practices***

Thursday’s lesson:

🚨WARNING🚨
Going into the summer and/or specific events without coaches specifically there to SEE YOU is almost always an absolute waste of time and money.

💰FACT: Most families spend thousands of dollars every summer WITHOUT a single coach SPECIFICALLY coming to see them.

What a terrible approach! Remember the old quote… “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” These kids “wish” to someday play college baseball. But they lack any kind of plan to make it a reality.

You’re different….

Your GOAL: Have multiple, appropriate, opportunities to play college baseball.
Your PLAN: Be on coaches list to see BEFORE they leave the office! How? By effectively communicating with the right coaches.

❓HOW IS THAT DONE?
👉By systematically implementing what I call the “2 pronged approach” which includes…
❗️Networking
❗️Being proactive

Today’s email will focus on networking. The next email will cover being proactive.

***The following information comes directly from the lesson on networking from my course called The Playbook. You can download the PDF that accompanies the lesson for free***

“Networking” (verb) & your “network” (noun) are probably the most important parts to the recruiting process…. And LIFE for that matter!

Let’s define the term…
Network:
1 [noun] A group or system of interconnected people or things
2 [verb] To cultivate people who can be helpful to one professionally

🤯The Verb grows the Noun.

3 STEPS TO EFFECTIVE NETWORKING

① – IDENTIFY YOUR NETWORK

Start with the obvious.
Expand your list.
Cultivate from the unexpected.

② – EDUCATE YOUR NETWORK

The better information that you can provide your network, the better they will be able to help you.
Share your goals.
Provide them with personal information.
Encourage conversations to show the physical (video) and talk about intangibles.

③ – FOLLOW UP & EDUCATE
Remember that you are asking your network to do you a favor. Besides “good karma” and being nice, there really isn’t much for your network to gain.
Plan on following up often by providing updates.

If your recruiting process can teach you anything, I hope it is the value of networking. I cannot overstate the importance of a strong and diverse network.

If you question the power of networking, I’d challenge you to interview a few adults in your life: your parents, parents of friends, teachers, neighbors…

Ask them who helped them make the most important decisions and/ or investments/purchases in their life.

I’d be willing to bet that you’ll hear a lot of the same answers…

“My friend from high school is the realtor that sold me my house”
“My dad’s friend is the doctor that delivered my babies”
“My friend from grade school is the guy that handles my investments”
“My brother’s classmate hired me at my current job”

While networking is what makes the world go round, at the end of the day, it is YOU that wants to achieve your goal. That means YOU need to take action!

In the next email I’m going to teach you how to be proactive and be your own best advocate.

Yesterday’s lesson:

Hey guys –

📬In the last email, we focused on networking. I truly believe a strong network & the ability to continue to grow that network are among the most powerful tools on earth.

But at the same time, you have to remember the old saying… If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.

🗣🗣That is why we’re going to focus on strategies for proactive communication today.🗣🗣

***The following information comes from multiple lessons within The Playbook. You can download the PDF on “How to be Proactive with Your Communication” at top of the page***

_________________

While we know that your network will likely lead to opportunities, at the end of the day, you, the prospect, will be the one that actually has to go to class & lace up the spikes. So you better be involved in the process.

Being proactive can be a great way to separate yourself from the crowd. That is, if you do it correctly.

📗Your goals with any and all communications:
👋First… let coaches know you exist.
👀Second… make it easy for them to see you in person.
🤝Third… build relationships.

The main goal of proactively communicating is to develop and grow our relationships. The better you can get to know the coaching staff’s, the better prepared you’ll be to make a decision about college.

Everything is not always as it appears on the surface. As you get to know people, you may find out you like them more than expected. You may find out that you don’t click. The better information you can gather up front, the better off you will be in the long run.

Being proactive means personally reaching out and engaging coaching staff’s through a variety of different mediums.

A few of the ways you might engage coaching staffs would be through:
✉️E-mail
☎️Phone calls
📱Texts
🤝In person
💻Social media

📬For the player at the front end of the recruiting process, email will likely be the most leveraged form of communication.

On average, a consumer will see an advertisement 20 times prior to buying a product. And that is for the biggest & best brands in the world! Think about how many Nike or Apple products you see!

That should emphasize the importance of several touch points with a college coach.

Below are seven different types of e-mails you could use to continue keeping in touch with coaches.
👉Introduction
👉Updates
👉Schedules
👉Thank you
👉Feedback
👉Congratulations
👉Questions

The “introduction” email will be the email you send the most. You’ll start by casting a wide net. Then you’ll begin to narrow down who you keep in contact with based on the replies (or lack there of). The next 6 styles of email listed above are easy ways to keep the conversation going and continue developing your relationship with coaches from different programs.

I have never & will never provide a “template” email for players to copy & paste. However, I do have a simple skeleton that works perfectly for the intro email and can be modified for any email.

***The details can be found on the free PDF at the top of the page***

It is very simple. Every e-mail needs to include the following 3 things…
👋Introduction
🗓Invitation
❓Questions

The short version sounds like this…
“My name is…. And this is why I’m awesome. I’d love for you to see me in action this summer, so here’s my summer schedule. Based on what you see in my video, do you think I have the size/strength/athleticism to play at your level?”

There’s way more nuance to it, but the reality is that those 3 bullets are the most important. You can study the “Cheat Sheet for Emailing College Coaches” PDF.

Do you know why I always recommend you ask questions in emails? Get that free PDF if you can’t figure it out.

Leveraging your NETWORK and being PROACTIVE are critical to your recruiting process AND to life in general.

In the next email I’m going to provide you with some more information about The Playbook and tell you about a limited time offer.

Talk to you soon!

Today’s Offer:

Hey guys –

This will be my 12th year working with families of prospects.

⏱One lesson I learned a long time ago is just how fast the summer showcase season comes & goes. If you aren’t prepared ahead of time, I promise you will have regrets come August.

👀Right now, this spring, is the time to prep. It’s the time to get ready for June 1st so that on June 1st, coaches are there with YOUR NAME circled on the roster BEFORE they even get in the car.

📬The last 2 emails I sent you give you lots of information on how you can be preparing right now!

The Playbook is designed to help you prepare!

_________________

I offer 3 versions of The Playbook. See below for the difference. Before I get that, I want to address some questions…

Q: What exactly is The Playbook?
A: An online course designed to help prospects effectively communicate with the right coaches. Effectively communicating with the wrong coaches is a waste of time! Communicating poorly with the right coaches is death! Students of The Playbook will learn the right way!

Q: What will be taught?
A: The course focuses on communication strategy and actionable tactics that will be implemented in their recruiting process.

Q: When does the course start and finish?
A: Once you register, the course is self-paced and you will have lifetime access in order to refer back to as much as possible.

Q: How long is the course?
A: The course includes 20+ video lectures that are pre-recorded bite sized chunks of information.

Q: How is the course structured?
A: The Playbook is an online course with pre-recorded lessons. Many of the lessons have PDF’s to accompany the lesson. Some lessons have “homework” which would be the action item taught in that lesson. The course can be done at your own pace.

Q: Is there any access to more information beyond the online course?
A: The Playbook is offered in 3 variations with varying degrees of personal access to me. See below for details.

Q: What if you don’t like the course?
A: Full. Money. Back. Guarantee.
